Karin has an interesting blog post about Amigurumi---the translation on the MuaMua site says:"Muamua dolls was born on the beach in Bali in 2006. Ludovica Virga, designers and creative mind, decides to produce crochet dolls made by the inhabitants of the island who, after the attacks that have hit Indonesia from 2002 to 2005, were left without work because of increasing tourism in crisis. The first creation of Ludovica, for all Luvilu, born by chance as a gift for a dear friend. However, success comes only in 2009 when the designer during a Chanel fashion show in Venice meets Karl Lagerfeld and gift of a Mua Mua doll with the features of the Kaiser of fashion. He begins a collaboration with Italian designer and in 2012 the commissions more than 500 dolls to sell in stores Lagerfeld. The success was immediate, slowly MuaMua dolls become a brand known by workers: the crochet dolls family is enriched with new characters: Anna Wintour, Coco Chanel, Franca Sozzani, Lady Gaga and many others. Today, the creativity of Luvilu and its ironic vision of the fashion world, Mua Mua dolls became a brand sold in the most important concept store and e-commerce in the world, the first to believe she was Luisa via Roma in 2010, his creations range from iconic dolls to funny t-shirts as well as a line of accessories that conquered and international it girl celeb. But Mua Mua dolls is also a reality with a keen charity and human aspect: each doll is made in Bali in rural areas where living women and elderly who live in difficult conditions, while part of the proceeds from the sale of the collection is donated to a school in Sumbawa to help and support women's education."
